The husband's daughter and her family came over for a quick visit this evening. The little boys were very happy to see each other again like they didn't get to play earlier today, lol. They were rough and of course wanted to play with the same toy at once that they had to run after each other playing tag. I liked it. I like for the little man to be able to play with another kid around his age. We seldom see them anymore though since they move to another county. I hope there will be more visits (either us visiting them or them us) so the kids will have a good time.
The little man was amazed at his little niece who was in a carseat. He went ahead and looked at her several times and giggled and laughed while he touched her little stockinged feet. He was surprisingly gentle too. It seems like he knew she is a fragile little thing at two months old. Perhaps this is a sign he will be good with a sibling in the future? We will know :)

shopped for toys
I bought the little man alphabet blocks and a toy truck last weekend. I figured the wood is better than rubber since he chewed on his rubber alphabet which prompted me to stash it in the closet.
He loves his new toys. Even when we were still in the store he named the letters visible through the plastic cover, while hanging on to his truck. He plays with them all the time now. We spent a pretty good time on the toy section since the husband had to wait for a store assistant for a fishing license he wanted to buy. What's a mother and a toddler to do but shop for toys?
I wanted to buy him a toy laptop but most are for older kids. In fact, the blocks were for kids 3 years and older. But he already knows the alphabet so it is fine. As for the laptop we will wait a few more months perhaps when he is ready.

long weekend
While the husband and I were walking on the beach earlier he said that this weekend felt like the longest he ever experienced. And he loves it. Well, he felt that way because he only worked three days last week. He took Monday and Tuesday off which (including the weekend) made for four days off.
We didn't do much this weekend though. Just stayed home and ran errands which is unusual since we try to go places and do a lot of things on weekends. We usually go to parks, to the beach, visit friends, eat out, and do household chores too. In fact I am so used to being out of the house on weekends that I felt like the weekend isn't complete when we don't go somewhere. Odd, huh?

almost there
It is almost my father's birthday. He will be turning sixty. And along with the big six-o comes talk about retirement and such. He is torn between wanting to retire and staying on his job. He has been working most of his life and he figures he needed the rest but then he doesn't do much at work either being a school administrator and there are perks he gets from his job.
One factor he is worried about is his GSIS contribution. Or deduction actually. You see, the company stopped deducting his paycheck about two years ago (I think). He already went to their branch and notified them about the glitch just in case they don't know but no action has been done. And upon digging the issue, they found out that some teachers were done that way too. You see, if the company stop deducting a percentage of my father's paycheck it means that they will deduct it from his retirement money when he retires should he opt to get a lump sum. Brilliant, eh? We are still hoping they will work it out and start deducting his paycheck again so he doesn't have to have worries in his mind.

what in the world was he thinking
I don't know what was in my little boy's mind. He was on a biting frenzy this morning. Thankfully I wasn't the target but the rubber alphabet we bought him months ago. The carpet was full of debris that I had to clean up once he stopped. The letter E got the brunt of his mad spell. I had to throw it on the trash can.
I am still wondering what was the reason for his biting. I don't think he is still teething since I can see a tooth almost fully out and it doesn't look like there is another one coming out. Perhaps it is just something he thought of doing? He was pretty good prior to that incident though. But with a toddler, a mother never really knows what's going to happen next. All I can do is guess and sometimes wait for the outcome. That is what parenthood is all about folks, lol.

family time
The husband decided to take two days off from work and it starts now. Hooray! He told me on our way to Myrtle Beach yesterday about his plan and I am just so happy. That means he will be spending time with me and the little man. It doesn't matter if we will just stay home the whole two days as long as he is with us. We all think the weekend isn't enough for us to spend time together.
He is still in bed right now since he woke up very early to read the news about the stock market. The little man is so tickled to see his father still in bed when he woke up. He is in our room playing while keeping an eye on his father.

went for a little ride today
We went to Myrtle Beach today mainly to have breakfast. The husband wanted to eat at the Cracker Barrel in Myrtle Beach. Not that there isn't one just a few minutes away from where we live. And since I wanted to get out of the house anyway so I agreed. It is a chance for us to go somewhere anyway without anybody calling him and asking for favors. We had a pretty good day and the little guy enjoyed our walk on the beach. We are now home, all tired from the trip. But it was all worth it. This is one of the reasons why I love weekends.

waiting..
The husband is trying to clean the garage and the yard with things that might get blown by the wind. The weather bureau announced we are supposed to get the brunt of the storm at around ten tonight. We don't want any flying debris that is why the husband is working on tidying outside at the moment. Today was pretty good. I was expecting it to be bad given the things I heard on the news but thankfully it wasn't.
I hope tomorrow is a good day so we can spend it on the beach. We need to walk and just spend time together as family.

storm
We are bracing for a storm which should hit the county today. It is kinda scary how the media makes it look like it is going to be huge. I sure hope not. We already have a suitcase packed, gallons of water, and a few canned goods just in case we have to go. Thankfully there is enough formula and food for the little guy. The husband said if it isn't too bad we'll just tough it out. It is only supposed to be for a few hours and that tomorrow will look better. Hopefully. Will have to leave the television on for updates during the day. There is no evacuation orders yet though which is actually a good sign for me. Please let us all pray this will not be bad.
